🔥 Dryer Repair

Dryer Repair —
Heat Restored, Same Day.

Whether your dryer stopped heating, won't tumble, or is making a noise you've never heard before — we diagnose and fix it on the first visit. Gas and electric. All brands. Pinellas, Hillsborough, Manatee & Pasco Counties.

Clearwater Appliance repairs both electric and gas dryers. We carry the most common heating elements, thermal fuses, thermostats, drive belts, and drum components for every major brand — most repairs are completed in a single visit without needing to order parts.

Common Dryer Repair Issues We Fix

Not heating — electric dryer
The most common electric dryer repair. A burned-out heating element is the typical cause, but a blown thermal fuse or failed cycling thermostat produces the same symptom. We test each component individually and replace only what's failed — not a bundle of parts to cover guesses.
Not heating — gas dryer
Gas dryers fail to heat when the igniter wears out, the gas valve solenoids fail, or the flame sensor goes. A thermal fuse can blow from an overheat event too. We carry gas dryer components and diagnose the specific failure — clothes tumbling but coming out damp is the signature symptom.
Taking too long to dry
A restricted vent path is the number one cause — lint accumulates in the duct over time and throttles airflow. A worn drum seal can let hot air escape before it reaches clothes. We check vent flow, test drum seals, and verify the heating element is at full capacity before closing out.
Loud squeaking or squealing
A high-pitched squeal almost always points to a worn idler pulley or drum support rollers. These components hold the drum in place and fail gradually — first squealing, then growling, then the drum stops turning. We catch them before the secondary damage happens.
Loud banging or thumping
Thumping that repeats with every revolution typically means worn drum support rollers — they develop flat spots and produce a rhythmic knock. Banging can also mean a broken drum glide or a foreign object caught between the drum and cabinet. We open the cabinet and find it.
Drum not turning
You hear the motor but the drum isn't spinning? The drive belt has snapped. This is a straightforward repair — we carry belts for all major brands and have the drum reassembled and tested same day. Motor failure is less common but also diagnosable on the first visit.
Overheating or tripping thermal cutoff
An overheating dryer is a blocked vent problem until proven otherwise — restricted airflow forces the element to run longer and hotter. A failed cycling thermostat can also cause runaway heat. This symptom needs to be resolved, not just reset, because it poses a fire risk if ignored.
Won't start
A dryer that won't respond at all — no hum, no click — typically has a failed door switch, a blown thermal fuse, or a bad start switch. We work through the chain systematically. Control board failures are less common but do happen on modern digital models.
Burning smell
A burning smell is one we take seriously. It can be lint accumulation on the heating element, a worn drum seal making contact with the element, or a failing motor. Do not keep running a dryer that smells like it's burning — call us and we'll diagnose it that day.
